Automatic L-bar sealers have a seal bar in the shape of an “L” that seals the open part of a package. When it seals the package, it also forms the top of the seal for the next package. To perform this function, items are moved into a folded over sheet of film, and the L-bar seals every open side. When automatic L-bar sealers are in use, products are conveyed into the folded-over film, and the L-bar stamps a seal around the product.
