How to Return Rental Equipment

Returning Equipment the Right Way

Returning rental equipment properly saves you time and money. Follow this guide to ensure your equipment returns to SIGMA Equipment safely, from cleaning to ultimate security in shipment.

1. Cleaning

The return process begins with a thorough cleaning. Once production ends, ensure all product contact areas are free of residue.

  • Debris Removal: Wipe away dust or dirt accumulated in manufacturing environments.
  • Surface Care: Use the correct cleaning supplies for specific materials (plastic, stainless steel, glass) to avoid damage.

2. Skidding

Proper skidding is vital for stability. Please save the original skid the equipment arrived on. These are often custom-built to manage the specific center of gravity and footprint of the unit.

Lost the skid? If the original skid is lost or damaged, contact our logistics department immediately. We will assist you in securing the load properly.

3. Strapping

Equipment must be securely strapped to the skid to minimize jostling during transit.

  • Recommended: Nylon strapping (prevents machine damage).
  • Alternative: 1-inch ratchet straps.

4. Shipping

To ensure the integrity of the equipment, specific shipping methods are required.

Requirement: Air Ride Trailer

Returning rentals must be done via an Air Ride Trailer. Common carrier and Less Than Truck Load (LTL) are not acceptable due to the high risk of damage.
